Political loyalists to ailing governor of Taraba State, Dambaba Suntai
were shocked yesterday when the effort to return the bedridden
governor to office hit the rocks.
According to SaharaReporters, political cabal in the state took the
governor to his office in Jalingo, alongside his physical therapists
to see if he could be smuggled back into office but after five
minutes, the governor was not himself.
It was gathered that Suntai was then rushed back to the his mansion
where, when asked where he was, he replied, "Airport."
The cabal, reportedly funded by former Nigeria Minister of Defence,
Theophilus Danjuma, later took Suntai to Aso Rock in Abuja to meet
with President Goodluck Jonathan with the hope that things would
change, but all to no avail.
However, insiders squealed that when President Jonathan discovered his
condition, he immediately sent some security agents to meet with him;
when they asked if he knew where he was, Suntai replied that he was in
Jalingo.
He was then flown back to Jalingo Sunday night after the plot to
reinstate him failed.
It would be recalled that Suntai, who was seriously injured when his
plane crashed on October 25, 2012 in Yola, capital of Adamawa State,
had suffered extensive brain damage and failed to recognize members of
a presidential delegation that visited him at a hospital in Hanover,
Germany last year.
